  • January 2008: The statement of the Committee on Nature Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences concerning cultivation of genetically modified (GM) plants in Poland was published <PDF (Polish version)>

  • February 2010: The statement of the Committee on Nature Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences concerning cultivation of genetically modified (GM) plants in Poland concerning the release of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) to the environment "A need for a moratorium and comprehensive research efforts" was published <PDF (Polish Version)>

  • 7th December 2011: representatives of the Citizen Initiative "GMO is not that" [Incicjatywa Obywatelska “GMO to nie to”] addressed a letter concerning GMO problems to the President of Poland Bronisław Komorowski (with copy to the Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the Minister of Enviromnent Marcin Korolec and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Marek Sawicki): the text of the letter – only in Polish – can be found in vol. 2_(2011) of the Bulletin of the Committee on Nature Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences, 126–129 pp.

  • 9th December 2011: representatives of different institutions addressed to the President of Poland Bronisław Komorowski, Polish governments and scientific profession an open letter–appeal concerning reliable estimation threats connected with GMO and reasonable legislate of law. The letter, signed among others by the President of the Committee on Nature Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences, prof. dr hab. Zbigniew Mirek and several members of the Committee, was sent to the President of Poland, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Enviromnent, the Minister of Science and Higher Education and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. It was also published in "Aura" journal (Vol. 2/2012, 20–22 pp.)

  • January 2012: the second volume (2/2011) of the Bulletin of the Committee on Nature Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences (dealing with problems of GMO) was issued <PDF (Polish version)>

  • 8th February 2012: Participation of the Members of the Committee: prof. dr hab. Zbigniew Mirek (President) and prof. dr hab. Ludwik Tomiałojć (Presiding Board Member) in the discussion "Genetically modified organisms. Necessity or choice? Chance or threat?" organized within the Forum of Public Debate in the President’s Palace. Prof. dr hab. Zbigniew Mirek was invited by the Chancellery of the President of Poland to present a short speech concerning the statements of the Committee on Nature Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences connected with problems of GMO. An important supplement of the above mentioned statement was a special, monographic volume of the Bulletin of the Committee on Nature Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences (vol. 2/2011), concerning GMO – it was handed to the participants of the meeting.
