Konrad
Wołowski: TAXONOMIC
AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES 1 ON EUGLENOPHYTES OF THE
KRAKÓW-CZĘSTOCHOWA
UPLAND (SOUTHERN POLAND).
3-192.
The
paper gives
information on taxonomy, occurrence and environmental characteristics
of
euglenophytes occurring in various types of water body: karstic village
and
field ponds, fishponds, springs, streams ditches, puddles and damp
soil.
206
euglenophyte taxa
were
identified, among them 161 taxa new for this area, and 69 taxa new to
Poland.
All the taxa are briefly described and illustrated using original
drawings and
photographs (LM and SEM).
Five
taxa: Euglena
truncata, Trachelomonas botanica var. borealis,
T.
decorata, T.
hirta var. duplex, and Phacus acuminatus var.
indica, are
new
to the European flora. Very rare taxa occurring as either single or
scarce
specimens and known only in Europe are: Euglena
slavjanskiensis,
E.
sima, E. hirudo, Trachelomonas
ovoides, T.
guttata T.
sarmatica, T. lomnickii and T.
gregussii var. danubialis.
The
results of annual
observations of euglenophyte populations occurring in four chosen
karstic ponds
– together with physico‑chemical characteristics of the water
– are
also given.
